How does God's voice come across?

vgaunplugged

When God speaks to us, how will it sound or come across? Harsh, upset, domineering, or loving, kind, empowering or freeing? Think about it.

Your answer to the above question will show you how you see God, how you will experience God and what He says to you. For us to be able to answer the above question that reflects God's true heart and nature we need to look at what God's Word (The Bible) says. We have to interpret our experiences and circumstances through God's Word and the finished work of Jesus on the cross(See Hebrews 1:3 and John 3:16-17) and not interpret God's Word through our circumstances or experiences. If you do interpret God's Word through your experiences and circumstances you'll always come to the wrong conclusion of God's character, heart and nature and you'll won't be able to trust Him. So let's see how God speaks to us and how will it sound and come across when He speaks to us and our hearts.

Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Colossians 4:6 KJV

Here the Bible shows us that our speach should always be with Grace. Very important to notice, God will never ask you to do something that He doesn't already do Himself. He leads by example. Therefore God and Jesus' words will always be gracious. As believers in Jesus we are referred to as the body of Christ but we are also referred to as the bride of Christ. Now being a bride, speaks of marriage, it speaks of intimacy, a deep, close and loving relationship. How does God or Jesus speak to His bride?

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water BY THE WORD,

Ephesians 5:25‭-‬26 KJV

The above verse shows us how Jesus treats and loves His bride. Jesus's words to His bride (Us) will always be to sanctify us, meaning to evoke(bring out and show) our true value and beauty. Furthermore it shows us that Jesus's words cleanses us, which means that His words cleanse us from dirt, which is any guilt and shame in our hearts. So we can see that when Jesus speaks to us and our hearts, it will always be words that shows us our true value and beauty and remove any guilt or shame we might be feeling and how worthy you are to be loved!

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is GOOD to the use of EDIFYING, that it may MINISTER GRACE unto the hearers.

Ephesians 4:29 KJV

LASTLY if God is asking us to speak words to people that are good for edifying and minster grace to them and that's how He speaks to us then we can safely say that the words that God and Jesus speaks to you WILL ALWAYS edify you(build you up, empower you) and minster grace to you that brings you peace in your heart. If what people say to you, the type of thoughts you have or what you might feel God is saying to you, is not edifying you, ministering grace and peace to you, freeing you from guilt, shame, fear and showing you your true value, THEN IT'S NOT GOD!
